Disaster Welfare Support Team members are highly committed, multi-skilled emergency services volunteers. Team members will predominantly train and work in their local area, but they may also have the opportunity to travel throughout New Zealand to assist in providing Red Cross emergency services at a disaster event. Responsibilities include a commitment to respond to emergency events; promote emergency preparedness at self, team and community levels; provide NZRC emergency response including welfare, outreach, first aid, reconnaissance, ground level rescue, casualty handling, and relief distribution when required; undertake training to achieve and maintain competency in performing your role. This role contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and willing to take direction, ability to prioritise and make decisions in a high-pressure environment.
Our team trains fortnightly in winter and weekly for the remainder of the year at Craft Place in Christchurch
