“I was inspired to start volunteering by my love of horses! Ever since I was little, I have always wanted to work and be around horses. So, when I heard about RDA, it sounded like the best opportunity for me to work and learn more about them.

My journey has been incredible! I did not have much confidence or knowledge around handling horses when I started. I had only been doing riding lessons beforehand and didn’t have much confidence around people as well in social skills. However, in the two years I’ve been volunteering at NCRDA, I’ve grown a lot more confident with handling the horses as well as learning so much more about them. Not to mention all the amazing coaches and volunteers that have taught me so much as well and make RDA feel like a second family to me!

Volunteering at NCRDA has brought me out of my shell a lot and has helped me so much with my social skills and self-confidence around new people. It also makes me so happy each week to go in and see all the horses and people!

I volunteer because I love being around horses, I love being a part of the amazing team at NCRDA, and just being able to help out in the community with something I’m so passionate about. I’d would say volunteering is definitely a very rewarding thing!”
