The Meals On Wheels role involves collecting hot meals from Te Nikau (Greymouth) Hospital and delivering them to clients in the Greymouth area between 10.30am and 12.00 noon on weekdays. Carry containers are then returned to drop off point. There are several delivery runs and 6 volunteers are needed each day. Each run takes up to one hour. The runs can be done by one person, a couple or with another volunteer. Drivers are able to claim a modest reimbursement to assist with their vehicle running costs.
Drivers require a current driver's licence. Volunteers also need to complete an application form and agree to the New Zealand Red Cross Code of Conduct. A police check is also required.
Approximately one hour between 10.30am and 12.00 noon on weekdays. Volunteers can drive as little or as often as they would like. Some volunteers drive for one week a month. Others drive for one day a week, and others are on call to assist as needed.
